Laboratory for Autonomous Systems and Mobile Robotics

The Laboratory for Autonomous Systems and Mobile Robotics (LAMOR), directed by Prof. Ivan Petrović of the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, has a long tradition in research of advanced control strategies and estimation techniques for a variety of applications with a strong emphasis on autonomous navigation of ground and aerial robots in unknown and dynamic environments. Our methodology relies on a strong coupling between theoretical research, algorithm development, experimental evaluations, and a healthy dose of serendipity. LAMOR's research activity is organized around three major axes: Motion Planning and Control, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping, and Detection and Tracking of Moving Objects. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art ground and aerial robotic platforms, advanced perception sensors and a motion capture covered arena.

LAMOR taking part in joint Master...

LAMOR participates in a new joint master programme “MARBLE – Maritime Robotics in Blue Economy” which is being developed within the MARBLE project funded under the INTERREG Adrion scheme. A network of academic and business partners working together on maritime robotics skills enhancement and capacity building in blue economy will be established within the project, and the project partners will work together to prepare an innovative interdisciplinary master programme.

Joint Master programme on Maritime Robotics in Blue Economy

A new joint master program focused on maritime robotics in the blue economy is being developed within MARBLE project funded under the INTERREG Adrion scheme. The main goal of the MARBLE project is to raise competences and skills in maritime robotics application in the domain of blue economy by supporting the preparation of an innovative joint master programme “MARBLE – Maritime Robotics in Blue Economy”. These goals will be achieved

  1. by establishing a network of academic and business partners working together on maritime robotics skills enhancement and capacity building in blue economy,

  1. by fostering knowledge and skills on sustainable blue economy in the Adriatic-Ionian Area and enhancing the importance of education and of innovative approaches based on new technologies,

  1. and by preparing the joint Master's programme on maritime robotics in blue economy.

The project started in January 2023 and will last until September 2023.

MARBLE partnership includes

  • 4 universities and one research organization: University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (Croatia, project coordinator), University of Trieste (Italy), National Technical University of Athens (Greece), University of Sarajevo Faculty of Electrical Engineering (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and University of Montenegro (Montenegro), National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (Italy);

  • a business cluster and a digital innovation hub acting as liaisons to the industry from the blue economy sectors: Maritime Technology Cluster FVG S.c.a.rl. (Italy) and Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) Agrifood Croatia (Croatia).

MARBLE project has received strong support from industry related to the blue economy, with 29 letters of support obtained from companies and research organizations interested in contributing to the joint master program through hosting internships, providing mentorship to students, and giving lectures related to their field of expertise.
